The day that many people feel should be recognized as a holiday has finally arrived and it is the talk of the town… of course Im talking about the advent of MLB 2015 season.
Today the Boston Red Sox have shown us that there is much to be excited in the upcoming season and proved their abilities with the Philadelphia Phillies in a BIG way.
The Sox led at every point in this game and were able to shut out their opponent with a very big win in their 8-0 win over the Phillies.
So who would I say were the key players to this game?
Key Player #1: Dustin Pedroia
Many of us had no idea that Pedey played with an injured thumb all of the 2013 season, but he has shown us that he’s back with a vengeance! Pedey went 3 for 5 with 2 monstrous homers and a single in his season debut. Do the math and he’s on track to hit 324 homers this season, along with Hanley! Fighting back all off season to come to the Sox as a healthy player has proven valid and all of Red Sox Nation has their fingers crossed that the Laser Show is BACK!
Key Player #2: Clay Buchholz
I am no exception to those apart of Fenway faithful who were skeptical of how Buchholz would start off the season as the Sox Ace. But if old Buchy is back, then Im as excited as everyone else.
Buchholz debuted this season with a phenomenal performance, going 7 innings, giving up 3 hits, walking 1 and striking out 9. Yup, thats Buchholz I’m talking about. He dominated the mound today and I think that he is showing us that there is no reason to doubt his ability as our rotation’s Ace.
Key highlights: Hanley Ramirez will be a force to be reckoned with this year as well. Hanley also hit 2 homers and showed us, as Sox fans, that he will live up to the hype surrounding him.
Victorino got a standing ovation today by the Phillies faithful, which he deserves and showed some great defensive skills on the field today.
While the Sox have an off day tomorrow, they have found a way to create buzz around baseball.
Lets go boys! Sox are BACK!
