ORLEANS (CBS) — Animal rescuers responded to two reports of a dolphin stranded on Cape Cod beaches on Sunday.
The International Fund for Animal Welfare first arrived to Skaket Beach in Orleans, where a common dolphin was reported stranded. The animal was able to swim off on its own as the tide came in, officials said.
Later in the day, animal rescuers got another call from a beach walker in Wellfleet at Mayo Beach. Workers were able to rescue the dolphin and move it to a rescue trailer for a health exam. The adult female dolphin was about 6 feet 6 inches long and in good condition.
The female dolphin may have been the one spotted earlier, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
